Book Review of A Borrowed Dream

A Borrowed Dream is the second book in Amanda Cabot’s delightful Cimmaron Creek Trilogy with many of the same town characters as the first book, A Stolen Heart, plus a few new ones. If you love series, I think you will love this book!

Catherine Whitfield was a main character in the first book, but not the love interest. This time she gets her own love story with a newcomer. Austin Goddard has just moved to a farm outside Cimmaron Creek to protect himself and his daughter from some bad guys who are looking for him.

Catherine disagrees with Austin on the very day they meet at the school were she teaches and he brings his daughter to enroll her. But they soon work through their differences, and start to have feelings for each other, but he cannot put her at risk if the bad men do find him, so has to wait until that problem is solved. Several secrets have to be uncovered, too. An enjoyable read!

 Blurb

There is no such thing as an impossible dream . . .

Catherine Whitfield is sure that she will never again be able to trust anyone in the medical profession after the local doctor’s treatments killed her mother. Despite her loneliness and her broken heart, she carries bravely on as Cimarron Creek’s dutiful schoolteacher, resigned to a life where dreams rarely come true.

Austin Goddard is a newcomer to Cimarron Creek. Posing as a rancher, he fled to Texas to protect his daughter from a dangerous criminal. He’s managed to keep his past as a surgeon a secret. But when Catherine Whitfield captures his heart, he wonders how long he will be able to keep up the charade.

With a deft hand, Amanda Cabot teases out the strands of love, deception, and redemption in this charming tale of dreams deferred and hopes becoming reality.
