I am happy to share my 6th published novella with you which releases June 15! The collection is called Destination: Romance, and each story takes us on a romantic trip. My story is set in Jamaica, then goes to Kentucky, then back to Jamaica.
Here’s some of the backstory of how it came about. Kim Sawyer and her husband Don had invited my husband and me to go on a K-Love cruise with them, and we were finally able to plan it for January 2016. Since Kim and I had been praying for each other’s writing for years, I said we should write a story about our cruise, so we brainstormed one night and came up with two ideas. My story is set in Jamaica where my oldest daughter went on a mission trip twice while in college. Her own daughter (our granddaughter Natalie), went on a mission trip a couple years ago while in high school. My other daughter and I have also been on mission trips, so it seemed like a novel place to start a romance–going on a K-Love cruise mission trip! Kim will tell you about her “romantic destination” in a couple weeks.
The back-cover blurb for my story Better Together than Apart is “On a K-Love cruise to Jamaica, Natalie re-connects with Ken, a boy she met six years earlier on a high school summer mission trip. Attraction stirs, but opposing goals threaten their romance. Will they listen to God’s leading for their best place of service?”
If this interests you, I hope you will read it and be blessed. It was fun to write the story using my own granddaughter as the model for the heroine named Natalie. Of course, most of the rest of it is fiction, except the part where the title comes from. It is based on something I wrote on the back of my class picture to Chester while we were dating in college. It said, “May God bring us together if He can use us better together than apart.” And God is still doing that almost fifty years later!
Here’s the blurb for the whole book of five novellas by five different authors. “From a cave in the hills of Missouri to a sandy beach in Grand Cayman, romance blooms for five heroines when they least expect it.” If this sounds like something you think you’d like to read this summer, check back soon for the pre-order link for Destination: Romance.
