K-Love Cruise by Kim Vogel Sawyer

From Kim: I love K-Love cruisin’! I went on my first K-Love cruise in 2008 and have gone every year since. But 2016 was extra special. For one, we were cruising with our pals Rose and Chester—always more fun when you have a friend along; and for two, we booked a tour of the Grand Cayman Turtle Farm. I fell in love with green sea turtles, and I knew I wanted to feature them in a story somehow.

Destination: Romance gave me that opportunity. My heroine, Tamiera, is a marine biologist determined to take sea turtles off the endangered species list by protecting their environment and nesting grounds. The hero, Joe, comes to Grand Cayman with the intention of building a new resort hotel, and of course he chooses the very stretch of ground where Tamiera’s sea turtles nest. Instant conflict!

I tried really hard not to give an environmental lesson on sea turtles, but Tamiera tries to educate Joe, and I hope readers will be educated while they’re being entertained. Pollution (which kills their food source), humans infringing upon nesting grounds, and over-hunting has greatly reduced the number of sea turtles in the ocean, and it would be a real shame to see these beautiful creatures disappear.

Baby turtles breaking free of the nest and trying to reach the ocean.

I hope you’ll enjoy “Bare Feet and Warm Sand” and will come away loving the green sea turtles as much as Tamiera and I do.
