My friend, Janie Butcher, invited me to speak at Antioch Mills Christian Church for their ladies’ day last Saturday so I had to travel to Pendleton County, KY. Janie graciously invited all my girls, and I was very thankful my two daughters and youngest granddaughter could go. My oldest daughter Christy met me about half way there to drive me and help with the book signing. She dubbed this picture “Driving Miss Rosie.” After we got there and set up, my youngest daughter Mandy arrived with my son’s daughter Elinor. And below is the picture of all four McCauley Gals.
After a huge buffet of delicious “finger foods” that was more than enough to make a meal, we went into the sanctuary. A wonderful mother daughter team performed the beautiful song “Find us Faithful,” and I told Jeannie George, the mom who sang, and Stephanie George, the daughter who signed, that they could not have chosen a more fitting song for my topic of “Leaving a Legacy of Faith and Family” which is my spiritual theme for this year.
I spoke of cherished items like my Grandmother’s Bible and gave the definition of legacy from Webster’s then read Psalm 127, verse 3 from the Message Bible which says, “Don’t you see that children are God’s best gift? The fruit of the womb His generous legacy?” I then mentioned some questions we can ask ourselves to make sure we are leaving the legacy we desire such as “Do your children see you in church each week and see you having your own devotions and devotions with them? Then I ended with my favorite verse of the last few years from the Message Bible–Ephesian 3: 20: “God can do anything, you know–far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, His Spirit deeply and gently within us.”
I ended by sharing how my first two books and even my new one all seem to have a theme of second chances, then stayed around to sign books. A great evening with family and friends–both old and new!
PS Hope you will return Friday to see my latest book, Surrender to Peace, with its beautiful cover!
What a a blessing to be surrounded by a part of your legacy, Rose! xoxo
Thanks, Ellen McCauley, It was a very special time! We are both blessed with great Christian husbands and loving children and grandchildren!
